Before I can go ahead to talk about the oil producing states in Nigeria, we have to talk about "The Petroleum Industry in Nigeria."
The Petroleum industry in Nigeria is regarded to be the biggest in Africa. Research shows that in 2014, oil contributed to about 14% of the economy. The exploration of oil in Nigeria began in the year, 1907 with the Nigerian Bitumen Corporation conducting exploration works to no avail. Much later, Shell D'arcy Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria discovered commercially available petroleum in Oloibiri in 1957. Since then there have been merits and demerits. Enough Story from me, you could click here to continue with the article "The Petroleum Industry in Nigeria."
Any state that produces oil in Nigeria is considered to many as a Rich State. So we begin to ask questions like 'what is Nigeria's main oil producing region?, Oil producing states in Nigeria?, Richest State in Nigeria? Or Location of crude oil in Nigeria? The question of the Richest State in Nigeria, I can't because I believe it's not fully a function of Crude Oil, but if you really want to know you could do a google search with the search box above or easily click here.

The Niger Delta region is on the Atlantic coast of Nigeria where the Niger River divides into numerous tributaries, forming a delta and along the coast from Benin River on the west to the Imo River on the east. It is home to about 31 million people, bearing over 40 ethnic groups including the Bini, Efik, Esan , Ibibio, Igbo , Annang , Oron, Ijaw , Itsekiri, Yoruba, Isoko, Urhobo , Ukwuani , Kalabari and Ogoni , speaking about 250 different dialects. The Niger Delta historically consists of the present day Bayelsa, Rivers and Delta States, in 2000 Abia, Akwa-Ibom , Cross River State, Edo , Imo and Ondo States were included by the Obansanjo Regime.
